Phu Quoc Top Places to Visit: A Booming Tourism Island

Phu Quoc has quietly transformed itself into one of the country’s fastest-growing tourism destinations in recent years. It has an international airport offering direct flights from several countries, including Singapore. Travelling to the island has become extremely convenient for tourists looking for a tropical getaway without too much hassle.

Over the recent years especially, the island has seen rapid tourism development. New resorts, attractions, theme parks, and entertainment areas are constantly emerging. While some travellers may still be unfamiliar with Phu Quoc, many who have visited often compare it to destinations like Bali or Phuket.

What makes Phu Quoc particularly interesting is you can still enjoy peaceful beaches, scenic sunsets, and local seafood while also experiencing modern attractions and luxurious resorts. With the pace of development moving quickly, now might actually be one of the best times to explore the island. The island will definitely become even more commercialized in the future.

Here are the top places to visit during your trip:

1. VinWonders Phu Quoc

For theme park lovers, VinWonders Phu Quoc is a must-visit attraction. It is one of Vietnam’s largest theme parks and is divided into multiple themed zones. It features thrilling rides, family attractions, indoor games, and water park activities.

One of the biggest highlights is definitely the Cung Điện Hải Vương, a gigantic sea turtle-shaped aquarium building. It has become an iconic landmark of Phu Quoc itself. Inside, visitors can explore immersive underwater tunnels and watch mermaid shows.

2. Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc

Located not far from VinWonders, Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc offers a unique wildlife experience different from traditional zoos. There is a safari section which allows visitors to board buses while animals roam freely around the area. It offers an experience that feels much closer to an actual African safari.

3. Sun World Hon Thom

Sun World Hon Thom is famous for having one of the world’s longest sea-crossing cable cars. The cable car journey itself already becomes a major attraction as visitors get breathtaking aerial views of the ocean and surrounding islands.

Once reaching Hon Thom Island, visitors can enjoy beaches, water activities, and the Aquatopia Water Park. The island atmosphere feels much more relaxing compared to the busier northern attractions. The cable car ride during sunset hours is especially beautiful and highly recommended.

4. Sunset Town and Sunset Bazaar

Sunset Town and the nearby Sunset Bazaar area have quickly become popular photo spots due to their colourful Mediterranean-inspired architecture, sea views, and vibrant evening atmosphere. It is a great place for a leisure stroll too!

5. Kiss Bridge

Another attraction gaining massive popularity in southern Phu Quoc is the iconic Kiss Bridge. It is designed as two separate bridge structures stretching towards each other without fully connecting. The architecture symbolises human connection and has quickly become one of the island’s most recognisable landmarks. The bridge becomes especially stunning during sunset when I was there. The bridge also attracts photographers and couples hoping to capture the perfect shot.

6. The “Kiss of the Sea” Show

The Kiss of the Sea show is another major evening attraction worth experiencing. The performance combines water fountains, visual projections, lighting effects, music, and fireworks. The combination of technology and storytelling creates an immersive entertainment experience. Even if you have bought your tickets for the show, it is still an open seating. Do head over early to reserve the better seats!

6. Grand World Phu Quoc

Grand World Phu Quoc is probably one of the most talked-about attractions on the island. This massive complex features colourful European-inspired architecture, canals resembling Venice, shopping streets and cafes, and nightlife activities.

The atmosphere becomes especially lively in the evening when the lights illuminate the entire area beautifully. I got the opportunity to witness the sunset when I was there and the view was amazing. Simply walking around the area already feels like an attraction itself.

7. Phu Quoc Night Market

No trip to Phu Quoc would feel complete without visiting the Phu Quoc Night Market. This bustling market is one of the best places to experience local street food and seafood dishes. Fresh grilled seafood, sea urchins, Vietnamese pancakes, ice cream rolls, and tropical fruits can all be found here. The atmosphere becomes extremely lively at night with tourists and locals crowding the streets. Besides food, the market also sells souvenirs, snacks, and local products that visitors can bring home.

8. Local Farms

Visitors can also explore various local farms around the island, including sim wine farms where the island’s famous fruit wine is produced. There are also traditional fish sauce factories which Phu Quoc is well known for, pepper farms showcasing one of Vietnam’s premium peppers, as well as bee farms selling local honey products.

8. Starfish Beach

For nature lovers, Starfish Beach remains one of the island’s most scenic spots, famous for its shallow clear waters and the large number of red starfish often seen along the shoreline. The journey there can be slightly rugged, but many visitors still consider it worthwhile for the unique experience and beautiful coastal scenery.
