VinWonders Phu Quoc: Cung Điện Hải Vương Steals Spotlight

VinWonders Phu Quoc was another huge theme park which we had scheduled to visit after our trip to Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc. Since both attractions are located in northern Phu Quoc, it made sense to visit them on the same day. Not unless you do not mind travelling back to the area again.

By the time we finished our lunch after Vinpearl Safari, it was already quite late in the afternoon. We quickly made our way over to VinWonders Phu Quoc. Thankfully, I did not feel too rushed as I had previously visited several other VinWonders theme parks across Vietnam. One of the attractions I was most looking forward to here was definitely the famous Cung Điện Hải Vương Aquarium.

VinWonders Phu Quoc Giant Turtle-Shaped Aquarium

The aquarium itself is impossible to miss. Designed in the shape of a gigantic sea turtle, the aquarium is easily one of the area’s most iconic landmarks. The exterior looked impressive from afar, with water sprouting out of the turtle’s mouth. Stepping inside felt like entering an underwater kingdom.

The aquarium’s dim blue lighting created an immersive underwater atmosphere throughout the attraction. Various sizes of aquarium tanks surrounded the walkways, filled with countless species of marine and aquatic creatures. From colourful tropical fish to larger sea creatures gliding gracefully through the water, there was always something fascinating to look at around every corner.

One unexpected highlight inside the aquarium was the presence of a restaurant overlooking one of the massive aquarium tanks. Deep Sea Restaurant offers a unique dining experience where one could enjoy a meal while watching marine creatures swimming beside. The restaurant served a variety of set meals and dishes, making it a convenient spot for visitors to rest and dine. Combined with the dim blue lighting and underwater surroundings, the overall ambiance felt relaxing and surprisingly premium as well.

Mermaid Show Experience

Thankfully, we arrived just in time for the aquarium’s popular mermaid performance held at the large entrance tank. The mermaid shows are usually conducted several times daily and lasts for about 20 minutes.

The performance itself was surprisingly entertaining. There were handsome male performers and beautiful female performers dressed as mermaids. They took turns diving gracefully into the giant tank while interacting with the crowd. The entire presentation felt very theatrical and visually captivating, especially with the aquarium lighting and background music.

The only slight challenge was photography. Since the entire area was quite dark with strong blue lighting, most of my photos turned out heavily blue-tinted. Not surprisingly, there were many phones held up for videos during the performance.

Final Thoughts

Although VinWonders Phu Quoc is massive with many themed zones and rides, the Cung Điện Hải Vương Aquarium easily steals the spotlight. The giant turtle-shaped building, entertaining mermaid performances, and wide variety of marine life made it a worthwhile stop within the park.

Besides the aquarium, there were many other enjoyable rides within the theme park as well. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to try all of them as we were rushing off to catch the sunset at Grand World Phu Quoc.
