Woo Gallery and Boutique Hotel caught my attention among the many hotels located around the old town district in Phuket. Despite being rated as a 3-star, the hotel proved beyond its star rating. It also has one of the highest ratings from various booking platforms, as well as raving comments.
Upon arrival at Phuket International Airport, we booked a grab to take us to our hotel. The journey from the airport took us less than an hour before arriving at the hotel’s entrance. I was already quite excited upon seeing the familiar sight of a heritage doorway. The hotel reminded me of my trips to Penang in Malaysia, where there were many of these heritage buildings. It perhaps has some resemblance to 23 Lovelane Penang Hotel or Hotel Penaga Penang?
The main entrance requires a room key to enter and I love how any strangers are unable to enter the hotel. We knocked on the door and the hotel’s staff greeted us and led us into the lobby. The lobby, the size of a room, looked neat and tidy with various wooden furnishings.
The 3-level hotel comprises of 12 heritage contemporary design guest rooms that blend modern amenities with the ambiance of the past. We checked into our Woo Heritage Double Room located on level 3, accessible by taking a small lift up. It was so lovely to see the heritage room, with the oriental designed doors, bedframe and Peranakan style bathroom sink. There was even a complimentary packet of cookies and rick cracker for guests too. Besides the creaking bedframe, we had a comfortable stay over for 2 nights in the heritage hotel.
Woo Gallery and Boutique Hotel also has a in house restaurant/coffeeshop within its compound. The menu comprises of local Thai cuisine in which you could dine in an environment surrounded by antiques. Perhaps you may also consider the place as a museum due to its vast collection too.
All in all, Woo Gallery and Boutique Hotel is located along Thalang Road in the heart of Phuket Old Town. It is a really convenient place to be at since there were many things to explore around the area. There were many shops selling souvenirs, many cafes, bars, local food and a museum within its vicinity. It is a unique stay experience, differentiating itself from the usual beach resorts of Phuket.
