The Empire Hotel was one of the few remaining options when I decided to stay in the central part of Phu Quoc Island. This was a last-minute 4D3N trip, planned only about six weeks in advance. Staying centrally made the most sense since we intended to explore both the north and south of the island. Our itinerary included trips to VinWonders Phú Quốc and Grand World Phu Quoc in the north, as well as Sun World Hon Thom Phu Quoc in the south.
Location & First Impressions
That is how we ended up at The Empire Hotel, which sits near the entrance of Chợ đêm Phú Quốc. The location is hard to beat, especially if you enjoy being close to the buzz of the night market.
We took a Grab ride from Phu Quoc International Airport, which took slightly over 20 minutes. Upon arrival, we walked through the night market and then turned into a small alley where the hotel entrance is tucked away.
When we arrived, no one attended the reception area. We waited about 10 minutes before a staff member came out of the lift. Thankfully, the check-in process was smooth once assistance arrived, and we were soon on our way to the room.
Room Comfort & Facilities
The room felt clean and reasonably well-maintained for the price. It had a warm, homely vibe, with simple wooden furnishings and earthy-toned interior. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, with a glass panel separating it from the rest of the room. If you’re travelling with someone you are comfortable with, you can even open the blinds for a more open-concept experience.
The bed was comfortable, and both the water pressure and heating system worked very well. These small details made a noticeable difference after long days of exploring.
The only feature that raised some eyebrows was the “balcony.” It was extremely narrow, with barely enough space to stand. Still, it offered a partial view of the city and a glimpse of the night market below.
The Empire Hotel Overall Experience
All in all, it was a decent three-night stay. Even though the room was on a higher floor, we could still hear noise from the night market until around midnight. This may be a concern for light sleepers, although it did not bother me much.
On the upside, the location makes it incredibly convenient to grab dinner or late-night snacks just steps from your hotel. If you value accessibility and don’t mind a bit of noise, The Empire Hotel is a practical and affordable choice in central Phu Quoc.
