The Sixteenth Naiyang Beach Hotel is our final hotel stop for this trip. The journey between Phang Nga Origin Hotel and The Sixteenth Naiyang Beach Hotel took over an hour, not including an additional hour of waiting time. We now know that we should have arranged this much earlier. At least while waiting, we got to chill in one last cafe of Mueang Phang-nga district.
We chose The Sixteenth Naiyang Beach Hotel primarily for its proximity to Phuket International Airport, thinking it would make our final day easier. In hindsight, this turned out to be the least enjoyable hotel experience of the trip. Ironically, services like Grab and InDrive are so accessible in the area that we could’ve stayed almost anywhere without sacrificing convenience.
Upon arrival, the first red flag was the reception staff—neither friendly nor welcoming, which immediately set a cold tone. While the hotel appeared decent enough from the outside, its age began to show as we explored further. We received only one key card and made our way to the room with low expectations.
The door creaked loudly as we entered, and inside we found a very basic space. Clean, yes—but nothing more. Exposed electrical cables in metallic pipe casings ran across the wall from the TV, and the “balcony” turned out to house the room’s air-conditioning exhaust system. Basic amenities like toothbrushes were missing, the water heater struggled to maintain a consistent temperature. The worst of all, the air-conditioning was a complete letdown. We set it to the coolest temperature, but it barely cooled the room, and its noise level was intolerable. It woke me up four times during the night.
On a more positive note, the street outside offered a decent selection of eateries and restaurants. While some were hit-or-miss, they served their purpose and kept us fed. We were also grateful for the nearby 7-Eleven and mini-marts, perfect for last-minute snack shopping or souvenirs.
In conclusion, The Sixteenth Naiyang Beach Hotel ranks at the bottom of our accommodation choices for this trip. While it’s not rundown and does offer a complimentary shuttle service to the airport (just inform reception of your departure time), the overall experience was underwhelming. If you’re looking for convenience above all else, it might work. Otherwise, there are definitely better options available that won’t keep you awake in the middle of the night.
