Mueang Phang-nga Cafe Trail: List of Best Cafes to Visit

Mueang Phang-nga’s cafe scene is quietly thriving, though most travelers heading to Phang Nga province are typically drawn to the famed Phang Nga Bay—or perhaps to the more tourist-friendly town of Takua Pa. I found myself slowing down in the less crowded streets of Mueang Phang-nga District. It is not exactly bustling with attractions beyond the stunning bay tours and limestone karsts. But, for those who enjoy wandering, people-watching, and coffee sipping, this low-key city has its own charm.

After our half-day island-hopping adventure through the breathtaking Phang Nga Bay, we spent the following day doing what we love most in a new place: cafe hopping. Surprisingly, the cafes here are often hidden in plain sight. We had to keep a sharp eye out and almost missed more than a few of them. Here’s a rundown of the spots we managed to visit—and a couple we sadly missed due to time constraints and limited transportation.

1. Fun Farm Cafe & Trail สวนสนุก

Don’t let the name fool you—Fun Farm Cafe & Trail สวนสนุก isn’t an amusement park, but a cozy little cafe instead. With only three tables, this small spot features a vintage Thai aesthetic and colorful decor. It’s a great stop for those looking to relax. The drinks are sweet and strong, with a specialty nutmeg beverage series that stands out. All in all, it’s perfect for a laid-back midday break.

2. ปังชา (pang cha)

ปังชา (Pang Cha) literally means Thai milk tea with bread, and that’s exactly what this cafe specializes in—tea-based drinks and classic Thai-style milk bread (think fluffy toast loaded with generous toppings). It’s more of a grab-and-go kind of spot, but the menu offerings are nostalgic and comforting. I had a taro milk tea with pearls, paired with matcha sandwiched between freshly toasted bread. As a fun surprise, the cafe also has a spacious, hidden backyard with multiple levels and swings, perfect for a quick photo opportunity or a quiet moment.

3. Ostinato (2020)

Ostinato (2020) is a stylish space with a musical soul. This cafe blends modern design with artistic flair—think soft jazz, curated interiors, and specialty coffee. In addition to their signature coffee series, they also serve a tempting selection of fresh bakes, including pastries and cakes. I couldn’t resist the fudgy chocolate cake—it definitely lived up to its looks. Ostinato is not only a great place to slow down, but it also offers a scenic view of the town from its outdoor balcony.

Other Cafes

4. Blue Mountain Cafe Bar & Restaurant

More than just a coffee shop, Blue Mountain serves as a full-fledged restaurant with a scenic mountain backdrop. The food is decent, but the real star is the relaxed, breezy terrace and solid espresso.

5. Better Beam Cafe’

This one gave off strong “hidden gem” vibes. Minimalist design, house-roasted beans, and attention to detail in every cup. If you’re serious about your coffee, this is a must-visit.

6. t h i t a. roaster and bakery

Arguably our favorite. Think fresh pastries, slow drip coffee, and an Instagrammable setup. It felt like stepping into a Bangkok-style cafe but without the crowd. Try their signature croissant—flaky perfection.

7. นมปังพังงา

A small bakery-style spot focused on local-style toast and flavored milks. Very local, very sweet, and very Thai. Hence, best enjoyed with zero expectations of Western cafe culture—just lean into the local flair.

8. หลงคอฟฟี่ | LÓNG COFFEE

Sleek and modern, LÓNG COFFEE brings third-wave coffee to a sleepy town. Their cold brew was refreshing and the baristas knew their beans well. Bonus: solid Wi-Fi if you need to catch up on emails or journaling.

9. CURB CAFÉ – PHANGNGA

True to its name, this cafe sits roadside but is surprisingly calm inside. It’s a good pitstop during your drive, and their iced lattes kept us going on a hot day.

10. CoConut HOUSE

A charming little place that infuses coconut into everything—from drinks to desserts. A fun, tropical twist on the typical cafe scene. Their coconut smoothie was especially refreshing.

11. UMBER COFFEE & CO.

A modern-industrial interior with plush seating and strong air-conditioning made this a comfortable place to relax. They also had a selection of pastries and non-coffee drinks. Generally ideal for a late afternoon cool down.

12. Bitt – Coffee Bakery & Beer

A unique concept, offering coffee in the morning and craft beers in the evening. A perfect bridge between chill cafe and casual bar. Definitely one of the more “urban” feeling spots in Mueang Phang-nga.

13. Baan Suang Gong

Tucked within a quiet garden setting, this cafe gives off major “homey retreat” vibes. Surrounded by greenery and laid-back seating, Baan Suang Gong is more than a cafe—it’s a place to breathe. The place is great for long chats and escaping the heat. Their herbal drinks were a standout.

In conclusion, Mueang Phang-nga may not have a long list of tourist attractions, but its cafe scene is quietly thriving if you know where to look. Not only does it offers a peaceful escape from the crowds and a chance to explore at your own pace. Whether you’re into specialty coffee, Thai-style milk toast, or simply looking for a cool seat, this little city has a few surprises waiting behind unassuming facades.
