Meanwhile, I managed to explore some of Surabaya Top Religious Landmarks, including the Al-Akbar National Mosque, Sanggar Agung Temple and Sunan Ampel Great Mosque.

The Al-Akbar National Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Indonesia. It is a grand and imposing structure that showcases modern Islamic architecture. Although non-Muslims cannot enter certain areas of the mosque, some parts remain open for exploration. The surrounding Ampel Market adds to the experience, offering visitors a glimpse into the local Islamic culture through its shops selling religious items and traditional clothing. I even bought a short-sleeved top and a kufi cap as a souvenir as the designs were pretty nice.
4. Muhammad Cheng Hoo Mosque
Another one of Surabaya top religious landmarks that I missed the opportunity to visit was the Muhammad Cheng Hoo Mosque, dedicated to the Chinese Muslim admiral Cheng Ho. It is a unique structure that beautifully combines Chinese and Islamic architectural elements.
Built in the early 2000s, Muhammad Cheng Hoo Mosque features a pagoda-style roof, red and gold accents, and intricate carvings reminiscent of traditional Chinese temples. It stands as a symbol of harmony between the Chinese and Javanese Muslim communities in Surabaya. The mosque not only serves as a place of worship but also promotes interfaith understanding and cultural appreciation.
