MIICO Hotel is budget boutique hotel, previously known as Check-In Hotel. It is located along Jalan Harmonium Road, within the vicinity of Taman Mount Austin. After reading the reviews from a hotel booking platform, I decided to book a twin bedroom with window for a night stay. The price was affordable since my friend and I were sharing the cost.
We checked in at about 2pm after going through the customs and having breakfast at a coffee shop. The hotel lobby was quite clean which I did not expect from a budget hotel. My expectations of budget hotels are pretty low except for those newly built ones. Anyway, there was a pantry set up at its lobby, offering coffee, tea and juices for hotel guests. A water dispenser and well as a microwave oven is also available. Other canned drinks and snacks are available for sale at the counter.
After getting our room keys, we headed up to our room to put down our bags. Although the room size was not very big, it was still decent and clean. We opened the window, allowing the room to air a little before heading out. Bottled water and toothbrush set was also provided by the hotel too.
My only complaint is that our room was located and facing the main road where I could hear the cars driving by. In the morning, we could hear the constant opening and closing of the lift door that transports the laundry. It was kind of annoying and it disturbs our sleep. Aside from that, Toppen Shopping Centre is located about 7 minutes’ walk away from MIICO Hotel. It has been quite a few years since I have been to that mall and the layout felt a little complicated to me.
All in all, the experience staying at MIICO Hotel was still better than Grand Hallmark Hotel, which I stayed over last year. Do check out other hotel reviews too!
