A Garden-in-a-Hotel concept in the heart of Central Business District and Marina Bay.
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering was the direct opposite of PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay. One had a cabin-in-the-garden concept while the latter features a garden-in-a-hotel. After undergoing a major transformation, Marina Mandarin Singapore has finally been rebranded to PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay. The hotel displayed innovative stylish vibes and not forgetting the original eco-friendly intent.
Being the consecutive year in which I will be spending my birthday overnight in a Parkroyal Collection Hotel, I had my expectations. Unlike my previous experience, I was disappointed that the hotel did not offer any welcome drink, or a Covid-19 care pack. (Even though I was staying in an Urban Suite.) The check in process was rather smooth without needing to queue that day.
The Urban Suite was really huge! The first thing that caught my attention would be the plush king-size bed! I explored the room, finding out that it has 2 balconies and 2 toilets. Each toilet had a filtered drinking water system installed beside the tap, so no more needing to request bottled water from the reception.
I was overly excited exploring the room that I missed out one important highlight of this room – the balcony. It was such a perfect view overlooking Marina Bay Sands, Art Science Museum and Singapore Flyer. Night view was as amazing!
Exclusive COLLECTION Club Priviledges and Breakfast
As part of the Urban Suite Room package, my stay includes free access to COLLECTION Club Lounge at Level 5 from 7.00am to 10.00pm. I had my afternoon tea, evening cocktail as well as the following day’s breakfast there.
The lounge was really a conducive and relaxing place to chill in, overlooking the cityscape. Various plants were planted surrounding the lounge, making me feel as though I was dining in a garden. It was rather unfortunate that the afternoon tea wasn’t up to standard. The only food I enjoyed were their raspberry chocolate cake and lemon curd.
Despite limited options on its menu, the food fared pretty well for breakfast. One of the recommended dishes by the staff was roti prata. Served with curry, the roti prata was really flaky, just like a puff pastry. Another dish which I enjoyed was the egg benedict with hollandaise sauce, with a hint of truffle! It was surprising that they served that, and immediately regretted going to Peppermint for the first round of breakfast.
Facilities and beautiful photography spots
It was definitely amazing how a huge “garden” could be incorporated within the hotel. The lobby felt like a colosseum with plants all around. Do not be alarm if you heard bird chirping because there were live birds in cages hang around at certain locations.
While PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering had bird cage design villa around the pool, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay have bird nest design at its lobby!
Another feature which I felt was an eye-opener was the Urban Farm located outside of Peppermint Restaurant. It was my first time seeing so many edible plants grown. From a variety of herbs to different fruits.
Gym was never my option to spend time in during my staycation, while the swimming pool is a must. Unfortunately, they forgot to provide bathrobes and slippers in my room and I had to request for them.
I had a dip at night after dinner and the following morning since I would like to take photos in the day. Remember to book your preferred time slots as it is required for crowd control. Since the pool was at 5th floor beside the lounge, expect cityscape view as you relax on the sunlounger.
It was checking out time and I was reluctant to leave the huge comfy bed behind. I enjoyed the soak in the bathtub and the lovely scent of the rosella shampoo/body wash too!
Overall, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay hotel is the place to check out if you love the greenery or garden settings. There are also plenty of OOTDs spot on level 5 or your hotel room’s balcony, overlooking the city! Please refer to my Instagram for more photos!
