23 Lovelane Penang Hotel Review

23 Lovelane Penang is a boutique heritage hotel located in George Town with raving positive reviews.

I finally touched down at Penang International Airport after an hour and the half flight from Singapore. It was so exciting to be travelling once more, even though it was only a short 4.5-day trip to Penang. The first thing I did was obviously to book a grab to 23 Lovelane Penang Hotel, where I would be staying for the night.

My grab ride from the airport to the hotel was about 45 minutes since there was no traffic congestion. By about 8.30am, I have already reached my destination and it was considered still ‘early’ in Malaysia. Luckily, I had light breakfast at the SATS Premier Lounge before my flight.

23 Lovelane Penang Hotel caught my attention from various media platforms as I was searching for hotels to book. It was being featured as a boutique heritage hotel representing 5 different architectural periods. As there were only 10 rooms available, I was lucky enough to book a night there.

I walked through the heritage gates with 2 lanterns hanging on each side, along the stone pathway. Stepping into the lobby felt so homely as though I was entering into someone else residence. The check-in timing was 2pm but I was fortunate that the previous guests had already checked-out. The staffs were so helpful as they helped me to capture photos around the hotel after I drank up my orange juice. Thank you so much!

Each room still uses a physical key, and I could not wait to check out my room – 1920′s Jack Roof Annex. The first thing I noticed were antique furnishing and bold artworks on the walls. There was even a remote where I could control the lights just by a click. There were 2 jugs of refillable drinking water as well as coffee & tea bags provided. The toilet was in a different color tone and there were 2 sinks with large mirrors. Toilet amenities were all provided, including a bar of Crabtree & Evelyn facial soap.

If you have time to spare, do explore around the hotel as there are many IG worthy locations for photos. Such as its lobby bar, library lounge, SteakFrites@23 restaurant, garden and its corridors. There are few different WIFI connections, and I selected the one that was most stable. During the night, it was even more romantic when the main gates’ lanterns were lit up, same for the candles at the lobby. The only complain would probably be the noisy bugs/frogs croaking loudly as I tried to sleep.

The hotel is located near popular landmarks such as the Cheong Fatt Tze, Pinang Peranakan Mansion & Seh Tek Tong Cheah Kongsi. If you could walk long distances like me, head further to Chew Jetty, Seh Tek Tong Cheah Kongsi & Komtar.

Also, 2 streets down is Chulia street, where street hawkers serve amazing street food for dinner. I had tried the popular wanton noodles and Penang char kway teow there.

I can’t wait to share more hotel reviews soon, especially from my Penang trip!
