The Huskitory: Furry Encounter in Melaka

The Huskitory is one of Melaka’s more unique attractions, especially for dog lovers. Located within a quiet residential neighborhood, this cozy sanctuary is home to a pack of friendly Siberian Huskies. More recently, they have added Akita Inu and the popular Shiba Inu to their line-up as well! If you are looking for a heartwarming animal experience, this a place that offers plenty of cuddles and fluffy memories.

I had initially planned to visit The Huskitory during my first trip to Melaka earlier this year, but time constraints meant I had to give it a miss. Determined not to let the opportunity slip again, I slotted it into my itinerary on my second visit and I am glad I did!

They charge a reasonable RM40 per hour per person for the Siberian Huskies located on the lower floor. It is RM28 for a 30-minute session with the Inus on the upper floor. While I would not call myself a dog lover, the appeal of these huskies was just too strong to resist. Their size initially felt intimidating, especially for someone with zero experience handling dogs. However, that changed my mindset pretty quickly once I stepped inside.

Furry Encounter with Siberian Huskies

Though The Huskitory offers an online booking system to secure your preferred time slots, I decided to try my luck with a walk-in instead. It is worth noting that the number of bookings shown online does not necessarily reflect the crowd, as many visitors choose to walk in and pay on the spot like I did.

Getting there was easy since we took a Grab and were dropped off right outside the building nestled among landed residential homes. After payment and a short briefing by the friendly staff, we were ushered into the husky area where several guests were already mingling with the dogs. Still unsure of how to interact, I went ahead to purchase some dog feed. A staff member kindly showed me how to use the treats to attract the huskies. Sure enough, the moment they spotted the food, most of the huskies came charging in my direction.

The dogs were incredibly active and affectionate. They wouldn’t stay still for long unless you had treats or they decided to rest. Despite my initial nervousness, it didn’t take long to warm up to their playful nature. Like everyone else, I couldn’t stop snapping photos and soaking in the joyful energy of the room.

As the session wrapped up, there was an option to add a group photo taken by the staff (for an additional fee). The photo encompassed all the huskies gathered around you. But the real treat came unexpectedly. The staff brought out a baby Shiba Inu, just two weeks old, for us to hold and cuddle! Soon after, a slightly older husky pup made an appearance too, both absolutely stealing the show with their cuteness overload.

In conclusion, whether you are a hardcore dog enthusiast or simply curious about what it is like to interact with a pack of huskies, The Huskitory offers an experience that is both memorable and heartwarming. The staff are attentive, the environment is clean and organized, and the dogs are clearly well-cared for. Even for someone like me who is more cautious around dogs, turned out to be a joyful and comforting experience. If you’re visiting Melaka and want to add something different to your itinerary, don’t miss this location!
