SOJO Hotel Lao Cai is located in Lao Cai City and offers a modern, convenient stay for travelers. I decided to pick this hotel for a night stay because its rooms provide scenic views of the city or the Hà Khẩu border area.
Lao Cai City is often a transit point for travelers heading to or from destinations like Sa Pa. Although the city is relatively small and laid-back, I still wanted to spend a day exploring it. After checking out of Silk Path Grand Sapa Resort and Spa in the morning, we booked a ride to Lao Cai City. The journey took a little over an hour before we arrived at SOJO Hotel Lao Cai.
We took the lift up to the third floor, where the JO247 Lounge is located. At first glance, it looked like a bar counter, but it was actually the reception area where we checked in. The lobby offers a 360-degree panoramic view and serves local specialties and cocktails. On the same level, we found a small gym that had just a set of dumbbells and two treadmills.
We headed up to our room after receiving our key card. Although the room was quite small, we had no complaints since it was clean and tidy. The toilet and shower were enclosed in an oval-shaped cubicle, reminiscent of a bathhouse. The most interesting feature was the large window with automated blinds, revealing a view of Lao Cai City. The bed was also a perfect spot for taking photos, especially at night when the city lights up! After placing our luggage down, we headed out to explore the city.
All in all, Lao Cai City offers several attractions worth exploring, including the impressive views of the Red River and its proximity to the Lao Cai International Border Gate. Along the riverbanks, many Chinese restaurants serve Chinese cuisine and hotpot, catering to Chinese tourists. Đ. Hoàng Liên features numerous fashion stores and cozy cafés, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing break. Since the city is not overcrowded, we enjoyed taking a leisurely stroll through the streets!
