Mercure Bandung City Centre wasn’t exactly a hotel my friend and I handpicked ourselves. For our Jakarta–Bandung trip, we went through a tour agency that provided three accommodation options — and Mercure was the mid-tier choice for our three-night stay.
After spending almost, the entire day travelling from Singapore to Bandung, we finally checked in late in the evening, post-dinner. We had taken the Whoosh High-Speed Rail from Jakarta to Bandung, a smooth and efficient ride that cut travel time to just about 30 minutes.
Hotel Check-in
Located right in the heart of Bandung, Mercure Bandung City Centre offers easy access to both the northern attractions like Orchid Forest Cikole and southern highlights such as Kawah Putih (White Crater).
The hotel’s design struck me as modern, though I couldn’t help but feel like I had walked into a small mall instead. The lobby housed retail stalls selling clothes and souvenirs, creating a rather unconventional hotel entrance. Check-in was quick and hassle-free, and we were glad to be assigned a room on a higher floor — though I could still hear the city traffic noise below.
Our Classic Room with two single beds was neat and inviting. A warm touch greeted us upon entry — a handwritten “Welcome to Mercure Bandung City Centre” message displayed on the full-length mirror. The room featured a clean, modern interior with soft lighting and a spacious bathroom. It was a comfortable retreat after a long day of travel.

Facilities and Breakfast Buffet
The next morning, we explored the hotel’s facilities, starting with the rooftop gym and infinity pool. The gym was small, equipped with only a handful of machines, but functional enough for a quick workout.
The infinity pool, however, was the real highlight. It offered a breathtaking panoramic view of Bandung’s cityscape. I felt that it was best to enjoy early in the morning when it is quiet. The water was definitely below 25°C, and I braved it for a few photos. The chill was too intense to linger for long. Still, having the entire pool to myself made it one of the most memorable moments of the stay.
The in-house restaurant served breakfast with a buffet spread that changed slightly each day. We made it a point to go early since it often got crowded later in the morning. I appreciated that the staff accommodated my request for soft-boiled eggs, my breakfast essential. The rest of the menu offered a good mix of Indonesian and international dishes. The food was hearty enough for those with big appetites, though I opted for lighter portions. Finding a washroom maybe inconvenient since most Bandung attractions involve long drives.

All in all, Mercure Bandung City Centre, a centrally located hotel delivered a comfortable and convenient stay. It is perfect for those who want to be near the heart of the city with a stunning rooftop view. While it may not exude resort-style luxury, its modern facilities, cleanliness, and city access made it a reliable mid-tier choice.
