Hotel Gahn, tucked in the Takua Pa District, stood like a quiet sentinel in the night when we arrived. Its exterior was bold and fortress-like, defined by three grand arches (only one being the entrance). But once inside, it was a whole different world. The warm, wooden interiors gave out “cabin-in-the-woods” vibes, instantly making us feel at home.
Check-in was smooth and personal. The reception was a humble wooden desk by the elevator, which just added to the charm. Before we even got to our room, we were offered a welcome drink, a chilled pot of tea that felt so refreshing after an hour and the half ride. Hungry from the trip, we also ordered a slice of orange sponge cake from the hotel’s beverage counter. It was light, citrusy, and the jam wasn’t too sweet.

Our Room – Deluxe with Bathtub
We booked the Deluxe with Bathtub room, and yes – it was as spacious and elegant as the photos promised. I am a huge sucker for heritage aesthetics and wood-accented interiors, so this was right up my alley. The star of the room was the huge white bathtub, big enough for four adults to sit inside! I had a quick dip that night, saving the longer soak for the following evening.
I had no complains about the bed as it was quite comfortable to tuck under the blanket since the aircon worked pretty well. The bathroom was also quite spacious, fitted with overhead rain shower. I also love the lemongrass scented body wash which was so refreshing after a long day out.

Breakfast and Lunch by the Pool
The next morning, breakfast was a delightful start. Although not a massive spread, it had a little of everything—local Thai kueh, noodles, fresh fruit, and the usual international food like sausages and hotcakes. I even got to select how I would like my eggs done. Needless to say, soft-boiled as always, and there was a surprisingly robust menu of coffees, teas, and sodas.
The setting was the peaceful view overlooking a small, serene pool which seems vacant most of the time. Also, a perfect spot to sip coffee or tea slowly.
On our 3rd and final day over at Hotel Gahn, we decided to have lunch at the hotel’s cozy in-house restaurant, Juumpo Family Recipes. (It was basically the same dining area which we had our breakfast at.) We ordered three dishes to share, and each bite lived up to the Michelin accolades (2022–2025) proudly displayed. While we had to occasionally wave off some houseflies, the atmosphere and food were truly memorable.

All in all, nestled quietly north of the bustling Phuket, Phang Nga province is an underrated gem with a slower pace, rich culture, quiet luxury and charming stays like Hotel Gahn. If you are looking to slow down, unwind, and savor a different side of Thailand, Phang Nga is calling out to you as well!
Until next time, on to my next destination after checking out of Hotel Gahn!
