Oriental Club Lounge Review at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport

My six-day Taiwan trip had come to an end, and it was finally time to return to Singapore. Though short, the trip was packed with memorable stays across four hotels – Just Sleep Tainan Hushan and Silks Place Tainan in Tainan, followed by Wellspring by Silks Beitou and Regent Taipei in Taipei. (Do check out my full reviews on each hotel!)

We checked in at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and cleared the departure gates. My travel buddies and I decided to find a spot to relax while waiting for our flight. One of them had complimentary lounge access and kindly invited me along. The rest were already too full to eat more. That was how I ended up visiting the Oriental Club Lounge.

First Impressions and Dining Options

The lounge was quite spacious, though it gave off more of an office pantry vibe rather than a lounge feel. Other travelers had already occupied most seats, leaving us with only two options. It was either the high countertop by the window or the low, cushion-like armchairs. Since I needed to charge my phone, we picked the latter which has charging ports. Some of the USB charging ports on the armchairs were not working, which was a little inconvenient. It is something the lounge could definitely improve on.

Despite not being very hungry, I could not resist checking out the food counters with ala minute service. It offered seven hot food options, including three vegetarian choices. Four of these were soupy, perfect for anyone craving something light and comforting before a flight.

I went for the beef noodle soup but asked for it without the beef and noodles so I could just enjoy the hot, flavorful broth. For those who prefer something quick, instant noodles were also available in a variety of flavors. Beyond that, the lounge had a other cooked food, salad bar, plus the usual drinks — a coffee machine, tea, and soft drinks.

The meal ended on a sweet note with a fun mini popsicle. I tried the sea salt and watermelon flavour, which was refreshing and unique. The other option was Ponkan, but I did not get the chance to try it.

Strangely enough, there was an exercise bike placed in the corner of the lounge. Perhaps, it was to lose some calories before boarding the flight? Worried about missing my flight, I led the way to the departure gate a little earlier than necessary.

It felt wonderful to be back in Taiwan for the third time since my last visit was eight years ago. This trip was short but fulfilling, filled with rich culture, luxurious food, and comfortable stays. All in all, the Oriental Club Lounge was a simple yet comfortable spot to wind down before my flight. It rounded off a memorable six-day Taiwan adventure.
