Top Things to do at Oriental Village Langkawi – Cable Car, SkyBridge, 3D Art Museum and more!

Oriental Village Langkawi is one of the top destinations to visit in Langkawi

Located around the highlands of the Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park, Oriental Village Langkawi is a place to spend a day or just half a day. Its location is fairly near Telaga Harbour Marina, where I took a ferry over to Koh Lipe.

We arrived via grab at the modern village where restaurants and shops lined the complex. Firstly, we headed directly to the ticketing counter to purchase the SKYCAB admission ticket at RM43 per adults. Hence, we are entitled to access to all the following activities mentioned below:

1. 3D Art Museum

Visit the 3D Art Museum in the Oriental Village, where you can interact with and take photos with creative 3D artworks. In fact to my surprise, the place is quite spacious, with various thematic zones for you to pose photos with. Generally, most people would pose with a group of friends or family members.

2. Langkawi Cable Car Ride (SKYCAB)

Undoubtedly, the cable car ride in Langkawi is the steepest in the world, and probably the main attraction of the Oriental Village. The journey involves two stages, where the first leg takes you to the Middle Station. From there, a second cable car continues to the Top Station on Mount Mat Cincang. As the cable car ride ascends to a considerable height, most of us tend to avoid moving too much in it. Fears aside, the ride offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including the lush rainforests, Telaga Tujuh (Seven Wells) waterfall, and the Andaman Sea.

3. SKYREX

The SKYREX is a 5-minute tram styled simulator ride which offers an immersive experience. There was dynamic motion, blasts of air, water spray, vibrations and sounds to enhance the overall experience. In order to view the 3D effects of the dinosaurs, we had to wear the 3D glasses provided.

4. SKYDOME

Equipped with 12 projectors, SkyDome offered 360 degrees of 3D image projections which easily covered your field of view. The sensation of watching the dome screen, enhanced with high definition (HD) graphics was interesting. However, some people might feel dizzy after some time, due to the 3D motion.

5. SKYBRIDGE (Add-On)

From the top station after your cable car ride, there are options to get to the Langkawi Sky Bridge. Either you could go for the Nature walk (adults 6RM) or the SKYGLIDE (adults 16RM). Entry tickets can be purchased once you reach the top. The curved pedestrian bridge offers stunning panoramic vistas. It is often considered a must-visit for its unparalleled views of the surrounding landscape.

6. Machinchang Petland

Lastly, there is also the Machinchang Petland which is a unique petting zoo that offers visitors the opportunity to interact with the tame and exotic animals there. The admission ticket which includes Machinchang Petland is at RM121 per adult.

In conclusion, visiting Oriental Village Langkawi is definitely something different aside from the countless beach visits in Langkawi. We left with a positive impression due to its combination of entertainment, cultural experiences, and stunning natural beauty. However, some may find the village slightly touristy, while others enjoy the lively atmosphere and the chance to experience Malaysian culture in a condensed setting.
