Places to climb in Paris besides the Eiffel Tower

Are you someone who look for places to climb in Paris and enjoy getting rewarded by a scenic view of the urban landscape?

There are amazing things about climbing a city’s structure that would cause nature lovers to frown upon. We avoid the dirt and dust from the sandy slopes as the concrete/stone steps would be way safer and bearable to the non-adventurous. As nature lovers enjoy nature, we also could enjoy the beautiful architecture of the cities as we admire from a bird’s eye view. You might probably spot your favorite fast-food joint from the point you are standing! Not only that, but you would also not be able to argue that the resting points within a building/structure could be way more comfortable!

Pardon my non-nature loving argument that I have tried imposing on you and let’s get down to the 3 places to climb in Paris, excluding the Eiffel Tower.

1) Arc de Triomphe

One of the most famous monuments in Paris, France would be the Arc de Triomphe. It is standing at around 60m tall, with around 280 steps that takes you all the way to the top. From the top, you get to enjoy a panoramic view of Paris! Within the Arc de Triomphe itself, there are plenty of historic facts for the history lovers which obviously exclude me, as well as a gift shop to purchase souvenirs to take home.

Address: Place Charles de Gaulle, 75008 Paris, France

2) Chateau De Vinvennes

Once a royal residence from the 12th to the 18th century to a place where one should visit for a beautiful photo at ”bridge” of the castle. The perimeter of the castle is said to be more than 330m x 150m, with towers originally up to 42m high. If I remember correctly, you would not be able to climb all the way to the top of the tower but at least climbing up midway would still give you a perfect view across the castle grounds.

Address: Avenue de Paris, 94300 Vincennes, France

3) Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris

Instead of climbing up this place of worship structure, you could already be panting midway to reach it. The Basilica stands tall at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city. Skip the counting of those irregular steps as reaching the Basilica of the Scared Heart of Paris offers a view that is definitely worth the climb. Thankfully I was climbing in the midst of winter and not during summer.

Address: 35 Rue du Chevalier de la Barre, 75018 Paris, France

Let me know if I missed out any other places to climb in Paris for a scenic view, other than a mountain. Find out where are the most popular Cathedrals in France and Germany from this post. For other travel review, click here!
