Wellspring by Silks Beitou: Eco-Luxury Stay with Hot Spring Retreat

Wellspring by Silks Beitou is a hotel that effortlessly combines eco-friendly practices, wellness traditions, and modern comfort. It is located along Quanyuan Road—Beitou’s Hot Spring Avenue, just a short 3-minute stroll from Xinbeitou Station. The hotel truly stood out for me for its design philosophy and hot spring experience.

What makes this 16-story hotel unique is its EEWH certification. Taiwan’s equivalent of a green building standard. Wellspring incorporates eco-friendly measures in biodiversity, greenery, water retention, energy conservation, CO₂ reduction, waste reduction, and indoor air quality. All while ensuring guests enjoy a luxury stay. Staying here makes one feel like contributing to a sustainable future without compromising comfort.

Wellspring by Silks Beitou First Impressions

From the outside, the building’s stone structure exudes a minimalist and zen-inspired aesthetic. Stepping into the lobby, I was immediately greeted by natural tones, warm lighting, and Japanese-style touches that celebrated Beitou’s hot spring heritage. The hotel design draws inspiration from elements like spring, smoke, rock, weave, soak, and texture, blending art, culture, and nature beautifully.

My Room: Hot Spring Twin Room

The hotel designed the rooms in a Japanese Zen style with wooden flooring and earthy tones. Behind the bed, handcrafted orchid ceramic tiles by local artisans added a refined touch. Meanwhile, the soft lantern-style lamps filled the room with a cozy glow.

The balcony revealed stunning city views with a mountain backdrop, making it the perfect spot to unwind. But the highlight was undoubtedly the in-room dual hot spring tubs—one for cold and one for hot. With a wooden bucket and a temperature measuring tool, it recreates an authentic onsen experience. The darker stone tones in the bath area set a soothing atmosphere. I especially loved slipping into the provided yukata after my soak.

Other Facilities

While the hot springs are undoubtedly the star of Wellspring by Silks Beitou, the hotel also offers a range of facilities designed to enhance relaxation, recreation, and family enjoyment.

Swimming Pool
Located on the 1st floor, the swimming pool provides a refreshing option for those who prefer a more conventional dip. Whether it is for swimming laps or simply unwinding in the water, the pool offers a tranquil setting surrounded by the hotel’s calming ambiance. For me, the hot springs took priority, but it is nice to know that guests who enjoy a morning swim or want to cool off have this option available.

The Gallery
The Gallery is a cozy retreat within the hotel, and it is a lounge-like space where guests can slow down and recharge. Families and solo travelers alike can savor beverages and light bites in a relaxing environment. With its comfortable seating and warm atmosphere, it is the kind of spot where you could easily spend an afternoon with a book or simply enjoy a quiet chat.

Kid’s Zone
Families traveling with children will especially appreciate the hotel’s vibrant Kid’s Zone. Thoughtfully designed, the space features fun elements like a slide and even a mini bicycle track—perfect for keeping kids engaged and active. At the same time, parents can sit back and relax while the space entertains their children in a safe environment.

Gym
I devoted most of my time at the hotel to soaking in the hot springs, but I still made sure to check out the gym. It was modern and well-maintained, featuring a wide variety of fitness equipment. Guests who want to balance indulgence with activity will find it easy to keep up with their workout routines, all within a calming environment that promotes well-being.

Massage Chairs
For those who simply want to unwind without stepping into the hot springs or hitting the gym, the hotel also provides massage chairs. These are perfect for a quick yet soothing break, helping to ease muscle tension after a day of exploring Beitou.

Hot Spring Experiences

One of the highlights of staying at Wellspring by Silks Beitou is, of course, the hot springs. There are also the 16 private hot spring baths for those seeking privacy, as well as two themed public baths. Both themes are inspired by Beitou’s natural landscape. Adding to the uniqueness, Wellspring is the first in Taiwan to introduce certified Japanese Onsen Guides, trained in Japan to share hot spring etiquette and wellness knowledge.

Besides enjoying the hot spring in my room, I made it a point to enjoy the public baths as well, and I ended up going twice. Once in the early morning before breakfast, and again in the afternoon just before check-out. Both sessions left me feeling completely refreshed and reminded me why hot spring culture is such an integral part of Beitou’s identity.

Just like in traditional Japanese bathhouses (onsens), the hotel separates the public baths by gender. Upon arrival, staff guide guests to store their footwear in designated lockers and slip into the provided rubberized slippers. After securing my belongings and changing, I stepped into the bathing area and took a thorough shower. Showering is mandatory before entering the baths.

What impressed me was the hotel’s thoughtful touches. Inside, guests are provided with cold and hot beverages, as well as fresh fruits, perfect for keeping hydrated between soaks. It embodies the brand’s core value: “to serve as we would like to be served (將心比心、待人如己).” Since I visited on a weekday, the baths were blissfully quiet. There were only two other guests around, making it feel almost like a private sanctuary.

The hotel designed the male public bath with a “Mountain” theme, reflecting rugged rocky landscapes inspired by the nearby Datun Mountain Range. The setting felt raw and natural, with stone textures creating a serene yet powerful atmosphere. I did have to step carefully as the rocky surface added an element of realism, though it was all part of the immersive experience.

Within the bath area, there are three different pools—a warm pool, a hotter pool, and a cold plunge pool. I found myself gravitating towards the warm pool, which was the perfect balance of heat and comfort, leaving my muscles relaxed. The contrast between dipping into the hot and cold baths was incredibly invigorating, a practice rooted in traditional onsen wellness that helps improve circulation and rejuvenate the body.

To round off the experience, I also tried the sauna and steam room for a quick session. Both added an extra layer of relaxation. The heat helped release lingering tension, while the steam left my skin feeling refreshed and renewed.

Overall, the public bath at Wellspring by Silks Beitou was more than just a soak—it was part of wellness. The combination of thoughtful amenities, beautifully themed design, made it one of the most memorable parts of my stay.

Breakfast Buffet and Dining Experiences

Starting the morning at Wellspring by Silks Beitou was a true delight. After a refreshing soak in the public baths, I headed straight for breakfast buffet spread at Mihan Beitou. Despite the huge spread, I went for a relatively lighter food options, hearty enough to fuel me well into lunchtime. I especially enjoyed the Japanese-inspired selections! I could not resist having three onsen eggs, alongside a refreshing acai bowl, chilled soba noodles, and fresh seasonal fruits. It was the perfect combination of nourishing and satisfying.

Beyond breakfast, the hotel offers two distinctive dining experiences that reflect both Japanese culinary traditions and Taiwanese cultural roots.

Mihan Beitou – Japanese Hotpot Dining
For those who love Japanese cuisine, Mihan Beitou is a must-try. The restaurant features a wide variety of hotpot dishes, sukiyaki, and izakaya-style small plates. Chefs prepare all of them with the freshest ingredients available.

Bando Club – Taiwanese Banquet-Style Dining
Designed to capture Beitou’s local charm and cultural history, Bando Club specializes in banquet-style dining. The menu celebrates traditional Taiwanese specialties. such as savory pork ribs and Penghu squid noodles. It also included signature creations like Regent Taipei’s famous shaved ice dessert. Bando Club blends local charm and modern flair for a hearty, culturally rich experience.

My stay at Wellspring by Silks Beitou was the perfect balance of eco-friendly luxury, cultural authenticity, and wellness. Whether it is for a wellness retreat, a family staycation, or simply to enjoy Beitou’s famed hot springs, it is a sustainable sanctuary worth experiencing.
