Leaf Signature Hotel – La Group was a rather last-minute booking for me, made just a week before my trip. As it turned out, this unexpected choice proved to be a pleasant surprise. Despite its extremely affordable price tag, the hotel offered a comfortable stay and excellent value for money. Conveniently located in District 3, directly opposite Tao Dan Park, it provides easy access to many of Ho Chi Minh City’s attractions. The place is also tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main roads.
The reason I ended up booking an additional night in Ho Chi Minh City was due to an abrupt flight schedule change by VietJet Air. My original flight was rescheduled to a far less desirable departure time of around 5.00am. Rather than endure a sleep deficient night, I decided to extend my stay in the city.
Coincidentally, the hotel was located just behind the property where I had spent the previous two nights. The convenience could not have been better. After checking out, I simply wheeled my luggage across the street to my new accommodation. Since check-in only commenced at 2.00pm, I hang at a small café nearby before heading over.
Leaf Signature Hotel and Room
My first impression of the hotel was certainly memorable. Cascading vines flowed down from the upper floors, draping the building in partial greenery. That gave it an almost abandoned yet charming appearance. Reception was located on the second floor, while the ground level housed a quiet café that seemed peaceful during my visit. After receiving a warm welcome from the staff and completing a smooth check-in process, I carried my luggage up to the third floor, as the building does not have an elevator.
The spacious layout and minimalist industrial-inspired design made a strong first impression as soon as I stepped into the room. The interior combined warm wooden furnishings with clean white walls, creating a cozy atmosphere. The comfortable queen-sized bed occupied the centre of the room, while a long wooden work desk stretched along one side. A unique highlight was the hanging hammock chair beside the bed. It offered a relaxing spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
The bathroom also has the industrial-inspired theme with its exposed concrete walls and white tiles. Although compact, it was pretty functional and the shower provided adequate hot water. The clean and simple layout maximised the limited space effectively, making it more than sufficient for short stays.
Overall Experience
Leaf Signature Hotel – La Group exceeded my expectations in many ways. What began as a last-minute solution to an inconvenient flight schedule change turned into another decent stays of my trip. The hotel’s convenient District 3 location, friendly staff, and surprisingly spacious rooms make it an excellent choice for budget-conscious travelers seeking something a little different from the usual chain hotels.
Although the absence of an elevator may be a consideration for some guests, the hotel’s affordability, and overall comfort would compensate for this minor inconvenience. Leaf Signature Hotel – La Group is undoubtedly a hidden gem worth considering.
