Silks Place Tainan is located in Taiwan’s oldest cultural capital, and it is not just another luxury stay. It is an experience that beautifully blends the city’s timeless heritage with modern sophistication. Unlike Just Sleep Tainan Hushan, which is also under the Silks brand, this property is a flagship Silks Place hotel and the third of its kind in Taiwan. True to Silks’ spirit of “local, yet global”, the hotel draws inspiration from Tainan’s architecture, literature, art, and cuisine, while offering world-class comforts for today’s travelers.
Silks Place Tainan First Impressions: Modernly Authentic Taiwanese Style Lobby and Warm Welcome
Stepping into the hotel, I was greeted by a grand lobby with soaring high ceilings and modern reception counters. The surroundings exude understated elegance. To carry out the brand’s core value of “to serve as we would like to be served (將心比心、待人如己)”, guests are welcomed in the most thoughtful way.
While waiting at the lobby, I was served red tea, presented in handcrafted teacups made by the hotel’s very own employees. Each cup carried the name of the staff member who created it—a small but meaningful gesture that instantly conveyed the warmth and personality of the hotel.

My Room: Junior Family Suite King
After enjoying my refreshing welcome drink, I headed up to my room – the Junior Family Suite King to explore. I found the space impressive the moment I walked in. Its design blended Japanese Zen aesthetics with modern touches, while cultural details added a sense of Tainan’s identity.
Decorative calligraphy brushes, scroll paper, suspended brush lamps, and Hoklo lattice patterns gave the room a distinct cultural charm. The bathroom featured a square-shaped bathtub reminiscent of traditional Japanese onsen tubs. The toilet bowl also offered a washing function for convenience.
Across the suite, thoughtful touches elevated the stay. There were complimentary fruits, hydrating facial masks, and even a humidifier to balance the warm, humid weather. The minibar was another highlight. It included the same sparkling red tea I had enjoyed during dinner at Silks House the previous night, plus a bottle of winter melon tea ale. I drank it the next morning and it was subtly sweet and refreshing. Coffee lovers would also appreciate the in-room Nespresso machine for a quality caffeine fix.

Leisure Facilities: Pool, Gym, and Kids’ Club
From my window, I could see the outdoor swimming pool on the 4th floor. Pebble walls and stone-like tiles surrounded it, creating a rocky garden-like atmosphere. Unfortunately, I did not get to swim. The hotel closed the pool the next day for safety reasons due to a typhoon warning.
Instead, I made use of the gym before checking out. It was more spacious than most hotel gyms and pleasantly uncrowded. While I noticed more equipment focused on leg strength than arm workouts, I appreciated the availability of thick yoga mats and blocks for stretching or yoga.
Families with kids would also enjoy the Kids’ Club located on the same floor. It was large and well-equipped, offering fun and educational activities inspired by the traditional Chinese “six arts”. Definitely a thoughtful way to entertain and engage both kids and adults.

Breakfast: A Choice Between Two Buffets
Breakfast at Silks Place Tainan was an experience in itself. Guests can choose between two buffet styles—International or Taiwanese. Intrigued, I went for the Taiwanese option, located on level 4.
The spread did not disappoint. I savored roast duck, char siew, and chicken, followed by their signature beef noodle soup, a comforting classic. To round off my meal, I sampled dim sum served the traditional way, from a trolley. The only regret? Dining alone meant I could not try as many dishes as I would have liked!
Dining Beyond Breakfast
The hotel also houses several notable restaurants which I had the privilege to enjoy as well:
- Glass House – A stylish bar to unwind with an artisanal cocktails, beers, and live band.
- Silks House – Offering refined Chinese cuisine with local flavors, including the culinary masterpieces of delightful dim sum and the signature roast duck.
- ROBIN’S – A dual-concept restaurant combining a Western steakhouse with a Japanese teppanyaki, serving premium cuts of meat and fresh seafood.

Unique Workshop Experience: Fragrance Symphony
Before leaving Tainan for Taipei, I joined a unique hotel-organized activity, the “Fragrance Symphony” workshop. It is located at the T Bar in the lobby. This hands-on session allowed me to create my own customized fragrance, choosing between coffee-inspired blends with/ or floral notes. With the guidance of the dedicated staff, the process was both relaxing and enjoyable. I left with a personalized bottle of fragrance, a lovely keepsake of my stay.
Its location is yet another plus point. Located within walking distance of Taiwan Confucian Temple, the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, and the historic Hayashi Department Store. Guests can also sign up for the complimentary walking tour offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, guided by professionals who bring Tainan’s rich history to life.
Fully equipped for both leisure vacations and business trips, my stay at Silks Place Tainan was more than just a comfortable stop. It was a journey into Tainan’s timeless culture, enriched with modern elegance and warmth, offering guests the finest hospitality while keeping cultural authenticity.
