Guide to the Best Places to Visit in Kluang, Johor

Tucked away in the heart of Johor, Kluang is a charming town that surprises many first-time visitors. The place has a rich blend of nature, heritage, and local experiences. While it may not be as popular as Johor Bahru or Melaka, Kluang offers a more laid-back atmosphere. Whether you are into farm visits, scenic hikes, traditional coffee culture, or vibrant street art, this underrated destination has something to offer for everyone. I have put together this guide of the Best Places to Visit in Kluang that will make your trip a fulfilling one.

1. UK Farm Agro Resort for a Farm Visit

Enjoy a guided farm tour at UK Farm Agro Resort, where you can feed and pet animals like goats, deer and rabbits. At RM35 for adults, the farm tour package includes an in-house guide (group tour) and a set of feeds. Highlights include goat milk tasting, cultural demonstrations by Orang Asli performers and feeding various farm animals. I dare say this farm visit is one of my favorites from this ‘Best Places to Visit in Kluang’ list.

2. Gunung Lambak Hike

Just outside Kluang town, Gunung Lambak rises to 510 m and offers popular, accessible hiking routes. The pleasant trails with scenic forest views lead up to the summit in roughly 1–2 hours. Although I did not climb, I only explored around the base of the forested area where I chilled in 1 of the 2 cafes found there.

3. Talula Hill Farm Resort Kluang & Kefi Farm Cafe

Nestled in Kluang’s countryside, Talula Hill Farm Resort is another tranquil farm-stay almost similar to UK Farm Agro Resort. The resort is located on a hilly ground, surrounded by greenery and cafés like Kefi Farm Café. While I did not make my way up personally due to time constraint, it is well-known locally as a peaceful retreat in a rustic setting.

4. Kluang Street Art

Downtown Kluang comes alive with Kluang Street Art which is a vibrant collection of murals and 3D wall paintings. They reflect the town’s culture, history and natural heritage. The streets is a walkable distance to where I was lodging at and it is definitely a great spot for photos.

5. Kluang Rail Coffee

I began my last day in Kluang at the iconic Kluang Rail Coffee, located at the historic railway station. The old-school coffeehouse serves classic kopi and kaya toast in a traditional kopitiam ambiance, which retains its nostalgic charm. Coffee lovers could purchase packets of their well-known rail coffee powder there. Be sure to be up early as the waiting time could be rather long due to its popularity. Also, drop by the railway station before/ after your breakfast to capture some amazing photos along the tracks.

6. Kluang Coffee Powder Factory Sdn Bhd

It would of course be a must visit stop to Kluang Coffee Powder Factory, where it features Kluang’s coffee heritage You would gain insights into traditional roasting methods and can sample or purchase freshly roasted coffee. Remember to take home packets of coffee powder or beans as souvenirs.

7. Zenxin Organic Park

One of Malaysia’s largest open-access organic farms, Zenxin Organic Park offers guided educational tours. I visited the form previously where I walked through the farm, spotting dragon fruits, herbs, vegetables, and more. Visitors can sample farm produce or purchase home organic produce. Advance booking is recommended, especially for group tours. This was taken 3 years back when I joined a Buddhist group with my friend for a tour!

8. Tong Huat Traditional Confectionery

For a taste of tradition, I made a visit to Tong Huat Traditional Confectionery—a long-standing local biscuit and pastry shop. Although the store sells delicacies like mooncakes and other old school classic treats, people queue for its flaky pastries, known as tau sa piah (green bean pastry). I queued for half an hour before getting my hands on 4 packets of them (3 salty and 1 sweet). Each packet consists of only 5 pieces and do note that each person could only purchase up to 10 packets. I really enjoy the flaky pastry and it was worth the wait!

9. Cafe Hopping

Kluang’s café scene might not be as popular as compared to its neighboring towns like Johor Bahru. Beyond Kluang Rail Coffee and the factory, there are cafés in Talula Hill and at the foot of Gunung Lambak. The one I visited was Hill & Heal, close to The Monkey Coffee. Both offers amazing nature ambiance, but I could only visit one of them.

In conclusion, Kluang may be lesser known, but it offers a decent place for a short weekends’ getaway. From visiting farms, fragrant coffee to vibrant street art and scenic hikes. Whether you are a nature escapee, foodie explorer, heritage hunter, or family‑friendly adventurer, Kluang could offer. Plan your own itinerary based on the Best Places to Visit in Kluang and discover the rustic charm of Kluang town!
