Grand Hallmark Hotel is reasonably cheap yet shabby.
It was another short getaway trip across the border to Johor Bahru for food and relaxation. There was not much of shopping this time round as my wardrobe is pretty much refresh this year.
Crossing the border was a breeze since I applied for the E-gate 3 days beforehand. It only took us less than half an hour to go through both customs! We had brunch at Roast & Coffee near City Square Mall, which is one of my favorite eateries to go to.
Fast forwarding to hailing a ride and reaching our accommodation for the night which my friend had booked. The lobby gives off vibes similar to “Hotel 81”, which was budget hotel vibes. Not that I have stayed over in one before. We were at first given a room on ground floor and upon entering, I was stunned. The air smelled rather stale in the room, and I immediately did not want to stay over. As I stood for a moment, the room’s phone rang. Thankfully there was another room with window view available.
We entered the new room on the second floor and found out that it looks quite different from its website. The website shows its digital rendering and not the actual. The room itself was rather cramp and the aircon was slightly noisy for me. At least the toilet showering was decent. That night, we settled our dinner at One Plus Eight Kopitiam which is around the hotel’s vicinity. Breakfast buffet was added on to our stay, but I decided to have it at Kopilicious instead.
I did a quick search and found out that Grand Hallmark hotel has 2 brunches in Johor Bahru and 3 in Malacca. I would rather stay over at Hako Hotel instead since I felt that hotel is more comfortable and convenient. Do check out my other hotel reviews too!
