Hotel Review – Cubic Pratunam, Bangkok

Never did I expect my last overseas trip was to Bangkok, early last year. At least I still had a chance to travel before the pandemic got worse.

A last minute planning to book an affordable hotel room without proper research was not wise. My room stay was unenjoyable due to various factors. I would rather pay $20-$50 more per night for a more comfortable stay.

My friend and I booked 2 nights at Spittze Hotel Pratunam as it was close to Phaya Thai Station. After about 10 mins walk under the hot sun, we managed to find the 3 stars hotel. Instead of a room at Spittze Hotel Pratunam, we were given the one at Cubic Pratuman Hotel. Both hotels were under the same management, connected only by a corridor across.

Checking in was smooth and we made our way to the hotel room. It was quite spacious and furnishing were in moody tones – grey. We had no complains till we wanted to explore the streets for the day. The hotel provided shuttle service to Phaya Thai Station, and vice versa. However, there was only one tuk-tuk (auto rickshaw) providing the service that takes up to 4 pax per trip. It was quite difficult getting the hitch and I would rather walk instead.

Besides the poor shuttle service, my room was at the corner facing the street. It was really noisy from the traffic. The walls were also not sound proof as I could hearing people from neighboring rooms talking. You might want to apply mosquito repellent before sleeping as I got awakened by the buzzing and bites of mosquitos.

Cubic Pratunam Hotel is definitely suitable for the non-fussy. As for me, I would prefer to pick somewhere more comfortable in future.
