The award-winning Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience has opened in Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa.
I was so excited to have bought the tickets to visit this popular exhibition! Based on reviews, the exhibition offers visitors a unique and interactive way to engage with the art of Vincent Van Gogh. It also aims to provide a multi-sensory experience by combining projection technology, sound, and visual effects to create the immersive environment.
It was a little crowded that day, but at least it was not jam packed like when I was in Musée d’Orsay, Paris. I did manage to admire 3 of Van Gogh’s actual works namely Imperial Fritillaries in a Copper Vase, The Starry Night and Portrait of the Artist there.
Although the overall quality of immersive experiences might not be in high resolution, it was still quite impressive. It incorporates elements from his artworks, such as the vivid colors and distinctive brushstrokes, to immerse participants in the artist’s world. My friends and I even laid on the comfortable cushions for over an hour. Children were excitedly running around as the screen changes from time to time.
Along the exhibition journey, it also offers insights into Van Gogh’s life and artistic process. There were even a few photo spots aiming to evoke emotional responses for a deeper connection with his art.
Finally, there was a 10-minute VR experience for you to delve deeper into Van Gogh’s famed works. You could also head over to the interactive drawing studio where you can recreate Van Gogh’s art pieces! Crayons are provided and after completion, scan your own works to use as a personalized photo backdrop. The coloring corner is rather popular with young children!
After being mind-blown from Van Gogh’s world, you could drop by the souvenir shop at the exit. Most of the merchandise sold were mostly in prints of Van Gogh’s iconic sunflower and starry night. There was even a themed café featuring some of Janice Wong’s pastries and sweet treats. The ice cream flavors are even inspired and named after Van Gogh’s most iconic works too.
Overall, Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience offers a captivating and immersive way to appreciate Van Gogh’s art. Definitely was an interactive and memorable experience for art enthusiasts and visitors alike.
